Young rowers in Zaporizhzhia continue their training with the equipment donated by German partners

Athletes from the Zaporizhzhia youth rowing club received valuable sports equipment from German benefactors to support their training during wartime.

The Akademischer Ruderbund (Academic Rowing Federation) donated 20 rowing boats to the “Lokomotyv” Youth Sports School based in Zaporizhzhia. The donation also included rowing simulators and a trailer for transporting the boats. Furthermore, the German partners helped organize the transportation of the equipment to Ukraine.

This assistance is indeed significant for Zaporizhzhia’s athletes, as the sports school is facing a funding shortage during the ongoing martial war. Moreover, several rowing clubs and training bases in the region remain in temporarily occupied territories, along with their sports equipment and vehicles.

Earlier this year, with the support of Büro für Interkultur and Oberhausen hilft e.V., who endorsed the idea and assisted in its implementation, rowers from the “Lokomotyv” school spent three productive training weeks in Oberhausen.

Zaporizhzhia’s Youth Sports School “Lokomotyv” is the official representative of Olympic sports in our region and is part of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine. The school boasts a professional team of coaches and athletes who consistently perform and win medals at international competitions.
