Supporting children with special educational needs

An innovative space for children with special educational needs was opened in Zaporizhzhia’s Inclusive resource centre. Representatives of partner organizations, the Association of Ukrainian Cities and UNICEF, attended an opening ceremony to present the first results of the joint project.

The Inclusive resource centre provides psychological and pedagogical support for families with children in need of assistance. The new space will help children to learn information from the environment and reduce possible psychological injuries in the process. It will also enable a comprehensive approach to the education of youths and improve access to specialist support.

Such a place will ensure the needed assistance for children with special educational needs, including temporarily displaced and traumatized ones.

The project is implemented by UNICEF and the Association of Ukrainian Cities with the financial support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development through the KfW Development Bank.
