Future Zaporizhzhia: creating a 2030 Vision

We are happy to announce the start of our long-awaited collaborative project with the Ro3kvit Urban Coalition for Ukraine. Together, we will work to shape a Vision for Zaporizhzhia 2030.

A kick-off meeting, which took place on February 1, was the first step towards this goal. The event brought together more than 100 participants representing civil society organizations, local government, creative industries, and businesses.

Vision 2023 will provide the foundations for a new city development strategy. What is crucial is that the new vision and, hence, the future document will be based on a participatory approach, with citizens, experts, and local officials equally contributing to their development.

During the kick-off meeting, we presented the first analytical data about our city and identified the main concerns to be addressed further. Then, through an open discussion, our stakeholders defined their expectations for the city’s strategy, particularly its timeframe, priorities, and mandatory components.

This has been a very inspiring start. Shortly, we will organize new meetings and cluster discussions to identify challenges and opportunities for economic and social development, improvement of urban infrastructure, and promoting cross-sectoral cooperation.
