WFP is about to expand its assistance options in Zaporizhzhia

Zaporizhzhia continues cooperating with the UN World Food Programme in Ukraine (WFP).

From the first days of full-scale Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, WFP, through its partner organizations, has been providing relief to vulnerable people in Zaporizhzhia. With the help of partners, WFP delivers food kits and ready-to-eat food rations to people in need. Another option, cash assistance to purchase food and other necessities, has been unavailable for Zaporizhzhia yet. Now, the WFP is considering the possibility of providing people with cash payments or food certificates for supermarkets.

During a work meeting with the WFP representatives, the city officials discussed how to collect applications for help from the population and who could be eligible for this assistance option. If the decision is favorable, the World Food Programme will announce details of the cash assistance options soon.
