Zaporizhzhia launches social taxi service through cooperation with Oberhausen
Starting January 15, 2025, the Zaporizhzhia City Territorial Centre for Social Services introduced the Social Taxi, a transportation service tailored to the needs of certain categories of city residents.
This specially equipped vehicle is available to individuals with disabilities resulting from the war (excluding those who are bedridden) and those newly diagnosed with such disabilities. The service facilitates transportation within Zaporizhzhia, connecting people from their residences to medical, social, and rehabilitation facilities, as well as administrative and banking institutions, railway and bus stations, and appointments with local government and executive authorities.
The Social Taxi has been highly anticipated in Zaporizhzhia and represents a significant milestone for the city’s social services. It is the first wheelchair-accessible vehicle in the Centre’s fleet. The vehicle, a Volkswagen Crafter minibus, was delivered in November 2024 from Germany. This achievement is the result of ongoing project and humanitarian collaboration with the sister city of Oberhausen and GIZ GmbH.
