From education to urban development: Strengthening cooperation with universities

The City Development Institute of Zaporizhzhia and Zaporizhzhia National University have signed a memorandum of cooperation. The partnership was initiated by the Faculty of Social Pedagogy and Psychology.

The memorandum was signed in January by the Director of the City Development Institute of Zaporizhzhia, Viktoriia Agientaieva, and the Rector of Zaporizhzhia National University, Galina Shilo.

The document outlines cooperation in the educational, scientific, and international spheres. In particular, it provides for the development of international academic mobility, participation in joint projects and exchange programmes, and the implementation of double-degree programmes with foreign universities.

A separate area of cooperation will focus on collaboration with the ZNU Department of Design. This includes shaping the city’s modern visual and information environment, developing urban navigation, and applying the principles of accessibility and universal design.

The memorandum also opens additional opportunities for ZNU students to complete internships and practical training at the City Development Institute of Zaporizhzhia.

This agreement goes beyond a formal partnership. It establishes a practical framework for cooperation between the university and the city — enabling students to gain practical experience, engage in urban development processes, and see tangible results of their work. It also creates a platform for shared initiatives, international collaboration, and solutions that contribute to the sustainable development of Zaporizhzhia and its future.
