Oberhausen donates a minibus to Zaporizhzhia children’s hospital (video)
Oberhausen Hilft, a charitable organization from Oberhausen, generously provided a minibus for City Children’s Hospital No. 5 in Zaporizhzhia. This donation exemplifies the synergy between sister cities, where city administrations, municipal companies, and non-governmental organizations collaborate effectively.
Oberhausen Hilft has been supporting the people of Zaporizhzhia for many years, providing assistance to children’s hospitals and vulnerable families. Now, the City Development Institute of Zaporizhzhia is honored to cooperate with this dedicated team that cares deeply about the fate of our city and its residents.
At the beginning of the year, the City Development Institute of Zaporizhzhia and the Büro für Interkultur in Oberhausen discussed potential assistance for the children’s hospital. Soon after, philanthropists from Oberhausen Hilft offered to purchase a minibus for the medical facility and its young patients.
The minibus will be used to transport patients, ensure the mobility of medical staff, and provide assistance in emergency situations. It will greatly improve the hospital’s logistics and the conditions for treating children.
We are sincerely grateful to all the partners of this humanitarian initiative, especially Oberhausen Hilft. We believe that this first experience of cooperation between our organizations will lay the foundation for further joint efforts to help children and families in Zaporizhzhia.

Vehicle for the hospital: humanitarian aid from sister city
The German sister city of Oberhausen has generously donated a minibus to Zaporizhzhia City Children’s Hospital No. 5. The transport was provided by volunteers from the charity organization Oberhausen Hilft. The minibus is designed to accommodate eight passengers.
The hospital emphasizes that this addition to its vehicle fleet will help in transporting young patients for medical care.
“Having such a vehicle for patient transportation is crucial for any medical institution. It is especially important for people with disabilities and for children. It helps with the transportation of doctors as well as patients for consultations with specialists. Moreover, it is extremely important for children who have been temporarily residing in the hospital due to being deprived of parental care,” stated hospital director Iryna Kuliesh.
Oberhausen Hilft has been supporting children’s hospitals and vulnerable families in Zaporizhzhia for many years. Previously, our sister city provided Zaporizhzhia with the necessary equipment, transport, and humanitarian aid.
“We are immensely grateful to the people in European countries who support us and empathize with our challenges. Their assistance strengthens our resilience,” remarked the city council secretary Rehina Kharchenko.
“The minibus was donated by Oberhausen Hilft, an NGO comprised of ordinary residents of our sister city Oberhausen. They raised funds and directed them to the children’s hospital in Zaporizhzhia to meet the needs of children. This initiative was driven by the citizens of Oberhausen, and we deeply appreciate their invaluable support,” added Viktoriia Agientaieva, director of the City Development Institute of Zaporizhzhia.
