City officials discuss the idea of creating a Support Hub for IDPs with the Welthungerhilfe’s team
Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e. V., or Welthungerhilfe for short, is a German politically independent non-profit and non-governmental aid agency working in the fields of development cooperation and humanitarian assistance.
Welthungerhilfe is a member of the JERU (Joint Emergency Response in Ukraine) Consortium, which collaborates closely with Ukrainian NGOs to provide multipurpose-cash assistance for people in need.
In Zaporizhzhia, JERU cooperates with the charitable foundation “Posmishka UA”, which has been helping the city since the very beginning of the full-scale war. The foundation supports internally displaced persons and citizens whose homes were damaged by Russian rocket attacks.
During the meeting, city officials, managers of the City Development Institute of Zaporizhzhia and the Welthungerhilfe’s team discussed the needs of IDPs, prospects of offline learning and, accordingly, issues of arranging shelters in schools and kindergartens.
Creating a Support Hub for displaced persons and citizens affected by shelling was another focus of discussion. Here, the city intends to employ psychologists and rehabilitation specialists who will help people adapt and find employment. The partners promised to forward this project idea to their donors for discussion.
