World Town Twinning Week. Zaporizhzhia — Linz: 1,988 km of gratitude
Last Sunday of April, the world celebrates Town Twinning Day. On this occasion, we send our warmest regards from Zaporizhzhia to twin cities across the world.
Zaporizhzhia and Linz in the Republic of Austria became partners back in 1983. This May, the two cities celebrate forty years of twinning relationships.
These days, Linz supports Ukrainians who suffered from Russian military aggression and helps to improve living conditions in shelters for internally displaced persons in Zaporizhzhia. It is also worth mentioning that the Embassy of Ukraine in Vienna facilitates communication and humanitarian cooperation between cities.
Before the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, Zaporizhzhia and Linz frequently exchanged periodicals and information on urban development. Ukrainian students use them to improve their German. In 2016, a delegation from Linz visited Zaporizhzhia on our City Day. We look forward to meeting dear guests from Austria again in our beautiful city, after the Victory, in a free and peaceful Ukraine.
We sincerely thank the Magistrate and the citizens of Linz for their solidarity and support of Ukraine’s sovereignty. On behalf of the people of Zaporizhzhia, we wish peace and happiness, the most joyful present and a prosperous future to our twin city Linz.
