Coordinating assistance for residents affected by shelling on 8 and 12 January
The Zaporizhzhia City Development Institute continues to unite the efforts of partners to provide essential support to residents affected by the recent shelling. This includes humanitarian, psychological, legal, and medical assistance delivered to those in need.
We express our sincere gratitude to all organizations and volunteers who have joined this critical mission. In the face of relentless Russian aggression, their tireless efforts are a testament to strength and solidarity.
Humanitarian Aid and Recovery:
- Proliska Humanitarian Mission: Provided 20 families with building materials, including OSB boards, transparent film, and fireproof tarpaulin. Additionally, 26 residents received blankets, thermoses, lamps, and other emergency supplies. Proliska Zaporizhzhia also offered consultations on accessing medical services, registering damaged property, and government support programs.
- Sonce UA: Conducted a needs assessment in one of the affected districts and provided psychological support to six individuals.
- Ukrainian Red Cross Society Rapid Response Team: Organized the evacuation of residents from damaged homes, established a warming center, and distributed hot meals.
- Dobrobat: Engaged volunteers to restore damaged buildings and critical infrastructure.
- ARTAK: Coordinated the evacuation of victims and vulnerable residents and provided first aid.
Psychological and Legal Support:
- Proliska Humanitarian Mission psychologists: Provided individual psychological assistance to seven victims, including the elderly and people with disabilities. They also held discussions on stress management and crisis behavior.
- VostokSOS social workers: Delivered five psychological consultations and seven legal consultations to affected residents.
- Right to Protection: Provided legal, social, and psychological support to 14 individuals.
Medical Assistance:
- Ukrainian Red Cross Society Rapid Response Team: Delivered first aid and coordinated the evacuation of residents from affected areas.
Hot Meals and Drinks:
- BELUGA UA: Distributed hot meals and drinks at the impact sites.
Situation Assessment:
- Sonce UA and Proliska Humanitarian Mission: Monitored the situation and identified the population’s priority needs, enabling effective coordination and accurate information sharing.
- Humanitarian Coordination Center: Conducted on-site assessments to guide relief efforts.
