From Magdeburg to Zaporizhzhia: a minibus to assist municipal workers
The Sixth German-Ukrainian Municipal Partnerships Conference has provided an excellent opportunity for the Zaporizhzhia delegation to visit state capital Magdeburg on their way back home. Here, partners handed over another vehicle for our city.
The Ford Transit minibus is already on its way to Zaporizhzhia and will soon join the fleet of one of the city’s utilities.
Along with previous assistance, the minibus is provided thanks to the program of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and GIZ GmbH in collaboration with German municipalities. New vehicles enable community workers in the frontline city to be more mobile and faster in responding to urgent tasks, promptly eliminating the consequences of rocket attacks, and helping citizens.
During the meeting at the Old Town Hall, officials of the two cities discussed prospects for expanding cooperation. One promising area is school partnerships, and the first one is already underway — between the Willi Brandt Integrated Comprehensive School and one of Zaporizhzhia’s gymnasiums with advanced learning of foreign languages.
At the beginning of 2024, Magdeburg will receive another vehicle from the BMZ. This time it will be a tipper truck— a type of equipment highly needed in Zaporizhzhia. As soon as all the necessary procedures are completed, it will be driven to the Ukrainian city.
