Preparing for Green Recovery: Zaporizhzhia’s Experience for Baltic Sea Region

An NGO from Zaporizhzhia shares its story in the Baltic Cities Bulletin. An article titled “The Green Book of Zaporizhzhia Recovery” was featured in the spring 2024 issue focused on our journey together towards a green and just transition.

A few months ago, Zaporizhzhia hosted a regional Recovery Forum that brought together leaders from local authorities, the public sector, businesses, active youth, and international partners. The organizer of this significant event, Ecosense NGO from Zaporizhzhia, successfully united people around topical issues related to the city’s post-war development.

A highlight of the forum was the presentation of the Green Book of Zaporizhzhia’s Recovery. This publication offers expert recommendations for the most vulnerable city sectors severely affected by the full-scale war, yet crucial for sustainable development.

In April, Ecosense NGO, together with the Zaporizhzhia City Development Institute, submitted the story about the Green Book to the spring issue of the Baltic Cities Bulletin. Our article aims to showcase how frontline Zaporizhzhia is already preparing for a green post-war recovery and how local civil society organizations are driving these processes.
