Zaporizhzhia receives fire engine from sister city Linz

A fire engine from the sister city of Linz (Austria) has arrived in Zaporizhzhia and has been transferred to the municipal Emergency and Rescue Service.

This donation is more than just equipment — it is a symbol of friendship, support and solidarity that have united our cities for more than 40 years. The new vehicle will strengthen the ability of municipal rescuers to respond rapidly to emergencies, extinguish fires, and eliminate the consequences of shelling.

In May, a team from the City Development Institute of Zaporizhzhia, along with Regina Kharchenko, the City Secretary, held an online meeting with representatives from Linz to discuss the community’s needs and explore opportunities for further support.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our partners in Linz — the municipality and the wider community — for their steadfast support of Zaporizhzhia. Such actions go beyond assistance; they reflect true European solidarity that unites our cities even in the most difficult times.
