New opportunities for students: Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic expands cooperation with Mid Sweden University
In September, Alina Kazurova, Head of the Center for Internationalization and International Cooperation at Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, paid a working visit to Sweden, where she met with Cathrine Gladh and Maria Fredlund from the International Relations Department at Mid Sweden University.
Earlier, the two universities had signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, opening the door to new international projects, academic exchanges, and joint initiatives. Work on strengthening this partnership began in March and continued through a series of online meetings that laid the groundwork for further steps.
During the visit, the parties discussed possible areas of cooperation, including:
- signing an inter-institutional agreement on academic mobility within the Erasmus+ program, which will enable international exchanges for students and faculty at both universities;
- prospects for launching double degree bachelor’s and master’s programs in disciplines such as computer engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, and additive technologies;
- the possibility of organizing short-term mobility programs, summer and winter schools, and participation in Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programs (BIP);
- expanding scientific cooperation in materials science and new materials, as well as hosting joint seminars and workshops for researchers.
The City Development Institute of Zaporizhzhia plays an important role in promoting these initiatives, systematically supporting the development of international partnerships for the community. Thanks to such cooperation, new opportunities emerge for the advancement of higher education, academic exchanges, and deeper international integration for students and faculty in Zaporizhzhia.
“This cooperation is extremely important for our university,” noted Alina Kazurova. “It opens new horizons for international activity, broadens the geography of partnerships, and creates additional opportunities for our students and teachers. But this matters not only for Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic — it is a chance for our city and all of Ukraine to gain greater visibility on the global educational map. In times of serious challenges, international support and collaboration are especially valuable. We are sincerely grateful to the City Development Institute of Zaporizhzhia for its assistance in creating these opportunities and strengthening international cooperation.”
The meeting in Sweden was an important step in advancing the partnership and created new opportunities for students and faculty at both institutions. The agreements reached will support academic mobility and further strengthen collaboration between the scientific communities of Ukraine and Sweden.
